BOSTON, Mass – Evil Dead: The Musical synthesizes three cult films into a bloody mess. That mess is made literal through the liberal use of Kool Aid, splattered in the faces, clothes, and plastic ponchos of a deadite (ie, Evil Dead fan) audience as happily animated as the zombie antagonists. This show is exactly what it says on the tin and it leans into its campy, sticky silliness with the enthusiasm of a swimmer executing a cannonball in a public swimming pool. Continue reading →

Trigger warning: Devil references, supernatural activity, gore, violence, implied sex with a minor, graphic puppetry

(Boston, MA) Horror gets nastier when it employs kid’s toys. Personally speaking, dolls are the worst, but cinematic history has proved that puppets can be just as creepy. They can be really, super, frickin’ creepy. SpeakEasy’s Hand to God has a puppet. Like the previously referenced horror movies, it gets creepy and weird. Like, Evil Dead chainsaw hand meets Avenue Q levels of weird. It’s awesome.   Continue reading →

(Lynn) It ‘s Halloween. There’s lots to do, so why run to Lynn and spend the evening watching the Arts After Hours production of Evil Dead: the Musical? Because it’s bloody fun. That’s why.

And it doesn’t get much more Halloweeny than this.  It’s a spoof of your typical teenage horror flick, a story we all know well. Five college students go on spring break to a deserted cabin in the woods. They end up confronting an unspeakable evil that promises,  “It’ll be just like you were killed by some guy named Don”.
